Site overview

Wrancarr Tower Mill is a former tower corn mill at Moss, near Doncaster. It was built near the site of an earlier post mill and is listed at Grade II. The surviving tower marks the later wind-powered corn-milling site at Wrancarr.

Its precise construction date, machinery arrangement and final working date have not been established.

History

Wrancarr Tower Mill was built at Moss as a wind-powered tower corn mill. It stood near the site of an earlier post mill, indicating a continuation of wind-powered milling at Wrancarr. The tower mill later ceased working but survived as a substantial structure.

The former mill is listed at Grade II. Its original cap, sail arrangement, windshaft, millstones and final working date remain uncertain. The surviving tower remains the principal physical remnant of Wrancarr's later wind-powered corn mill.
