Arkley Windmill, also known as Barnet Gate Mill, is a Grade II* listed brick tower mill at Barnet Gate. It was probably built between 1822 and 1840 as a corn mill. Steam power was added in 1895, but the mill continued working by wind until 1916.

It was restored in 1930, when a new cap, fantail and gallery around the cap were made.

History

Arkley Windmill, also known as Barnet Gate Mill, is a circular brick tower mill at Barnet Gate in the London Borough of Barnet. It was probably built between 1822 and 1840 as a four-storey corn mill. The mill had four sails, a cap and a fantail, and was later equipped with auxiliary steam power.

Steam was added in 1895, but the mill continued working by wind until 1916. The mill was restored in 1930, when a new cap, fantail and gallery around the cap were made. It survives as a Grade II* listed tower mill with cap, fantail and sails, in private ownership.
