Site overview
Nurton Hill Mill at Pattingham was a wind-powered corn mill whose surviving tower has been incorporated into domestic use. The mill was already present by 1811 and had ceased working by the 1880s. In 1917 it was converted as part of Mill House, and the surviving building was later remodelled and extended.
The former mill is listed at Grade II as The Mill House. Its present form is a three-storey circular cement-rendered tower with later domestic additions, slate roofs, a brick stack, irregular casement windows, and a ground-floor bay within the former windmill structure. No detailed machinery inventory has been established for the surviving building, and the operational history is otherwise limited.
The site now represents a preserved windmill tower adapted into a private house rather than a working mill.

History
Nurton Hill Mill stood at Pattingham in South Staffordshire as a tower corn mill. The mill was built, or at least in existence, by 1811. Its original machinery, sail arrangement, and full working specification have not been established in the available published material, but its type and function are clear: it was a tower mill used for corn milling.
By the 1880s it had ceased working. The former mill was subsequently absorbed into domestic use, with conversion as part of Mill House recorded in 1917. The surviving structure was later remodelled and extended during the twentieth century.
The listed building description identifies the former windmill as a circular-plan, three-storey structure forming the left-hand part of The Mill House, with a lower two-storey extension to the right. The building is cement rendered, roofed in slate, and has later domestic fenestration and additions. Its listing recognises the survival of the former windmill structure, although the building now functions as a house rather than as a working mill.
No surviving sails, cap, or internal milling machinery are described in the principal listing details. The site is therefore best understood as a reused nineteenth-century windmill tower whose industrial form remains legible within a private domestic building.
