Gordonstoun, Windmill Dovecot is a tall circular former windmill at Gordonstoun House. Historic Environment Scotland describes it as an eighteenth-century windmill converted to a dovecot, harled, with the upper portion narrowed in two stages and the interior lined with stone nesting boxes. The potence, or revolving ladder, survives.

History

Gordonstoun, Windmill Dovecot is an eighteenth-century former windmill at Gordonstoun House in Moray. Historic Environment Scotland records it as a tall circular windmill converted to a dovecot. The structure is harled, stands on a mound, and has a narrowed upper portion in two stages with rat courses to a central apex flight hole.

The interior is lined with stone nesting boxes and retains its potence. The Aberdeenshire Historic Environment Record notes that the dovecot and former windmill was mentioned in a 1751 lawsuit concerning the building of a new dovecot. The building was listed on 26 January 1971.
