Site overview

Quarryhill Windpump stood near the St Combs road in north-east Aberdeenshire. It appears to have been a metal windpump rather than a conventional tower corn mill. The site is closely comparable with the Mains of Cairnbulg windpump site in the same coastal area.

History

Quarryhill Windpump was a former wind-powered pumping site near St Combs in Aberdeenshire. It stood east of the St Combs road and appears to have been similar in character to the Mains of Cairnbulg windpump site. The available evidence indicates a windpump or wind-powered drainage structure rather than a traditional grain windmill.

No secure construction date, maker, ownership sequence, machinery description, survival condition, or final working date has been established from the sources checked.
