History
Papa Westray, Mayback, Wind-Engine was a former wind-powered farm-machine site at Mayback on Papa Westray in Orkney. The site is recorded as a windmill, engine and threshing-machine site. It belonged to the group of island wind engines used to drive agricultural machinery before modern power supplies became available.
The site appears to have been associated with threshing-machine power rather than with a conventional tower corn windmill. The wind-engine had been demolished by about 1930. No detailed maker, construction date, machinery inventory, ownership sequence, survival description, or final operating date has been established.
