Site overview
Windmill Remains near Bryn Felin are the remains of a large stone windmill tower north-north-east of Llanengan. The surviving structure is probably nineteenth-century and is built as a circular rubble-stone tower with walls tapering upwards. The tower is roofless and partly collapsed, standing to about five metres.
It retains a tall and wide northern doorway with a stone lintel, a large partly blocked upper window on the south side, and a small lower north-eastern window with a stone lintel. A beam slot for an upper floor survives, with the fabric more substantially intact on the south side. The remains were listed at Grade II in 1971 as a prominent landmark and one of the few surviving windmill towers in the region.

History
Windmill Remains near Bryn Felin stand about 700 metres north-north-east of Llanengan, near the lane running west from the road to Abersoch towards Craigfryn farm. The structure represents a former windmill within the historic milling landscape of the Llŷn Peninsula.
The surviving tower is probably nineteenth-century. It is built of rubble stone and is circular in plan, with walls tapering upwards. The remains are roofless and partly collapsed, now rising to about five metres. The visible openings include a tall and wide northern doorway with a stone lintel above, a large partly blocked upper window on the south side, and a small lower-level north-eastern window with a stone lintel. A beam slot for an upper floor survives, and the tower fabric is more substantially intact on the south side.
The site is protected as a Grade II listed building. Its special interest lies in the survival of a prominent windmill tower in a region where such remains are relatively scarce.
