Site overview
Alfriston had a post mill on the outskirts of the village, separate from the later tower mill. The post mill appeared on the 1845 tithe map, and its site was later associated with a flint mock windmill structure in the north car park area. The working history and final loss date of the post mill have not been established.

History
Alfriston Post Mill stood on the outskirts of Alfriston and was separate from the better-known tower mill built in 1834. The post mill appeared on the 1845 tithe map, confirming a windmill site at Alfriston during the mid-nineteenth century. The site later lay within an area associated with the gardens of a nearby house and the present north car park.
A flint mock windmill structure stands in the area, but the working post mill itself has gone. The construction date, machinery details, and final working date have not been established.
