Thomas Knight was associated with Sandy Cross Mill.
Site overview
Sandy Cross Mill was a post mill at Sandy Cross in Heathfield and Waldron. It was built by the early 1840s and was associated with the Knight family, beginning with Thomas Knight and later Henry Knight and his widow. The mill stood as a late Sussex post mill and was photographed before demolition.
It was demolished in 1916.

History
Sandy Cross Mill stood at Sandy Cross in Heathfield and Waldron. It was a post mill and a comparatively late addition to the Sussex milling landscape. Thomas Knight was at the mill in 1842, and he was succeeded in 1858 by his son Henry Knight.
Henry Knight's widow later took over the mill. The mill was associated with the local Knight milling family and stood into the early twentieth century. It was photographed as a complete post mill before its loss.
In 1916 the mill was demolished, and the site became a lost windmill site.
