Champion's Mill was a post mill on Horsham Common. It was built in 1764 or 1765 and became associated with the Champion family, who leased the mill before Charles Champion acquired the freehold in 1805. The mill passed through the Champion family in the nineteenth century and was blown down in February 1860.

History

Champion's Mill stood on Horsham Common as a post mill. It was built in 1764 or 1765 and later became associated with the Champion family. The Champions leased the mill and owned a shop in the Carfax.

In 1805 Robert Hurst sold the freehold to Charles Champion. After Charles Champion died in 1830, the mill and shop passed to his nephew John Champion Waller. In August 1838 John Champion Waller sold both properties to his brother James, who later tried to sell them.

The mill was blown down in February 1860. No standing post-mill structure survives at the site.

1830

Mill passed to John Champion Waller

After Charles Champion died in 1830, the mill passed to John Champion Waller.
1838

Mill sold to James Waller

John Champion Waller sold the mill to his brother James in August 1838.
1860

Mill blown down

Champion's Mill was blown down in February 1860.
