Elwick Windmill stands on Benknowle Lane at Elwick, within the Hartlepool district. It is a mid nineteenth-century brick tower windmill and is listed at Grade II. The tower is circular, tapered, and six storeys high, with a string course at the fourth floor, segmental-headed windows, and a segmental-headed doorway.

The mill was a corn mill. Regional mill lists connect Elwick Mill with corn milling and record an early milling association in the area, while the listed building records the surviving nineteenth-century tower. By the time of the list description, the fantail, cap roof, and lower timber floors were missing, leaving the mill in disused and dilapidated condition. The survival was nevertheless technically important: some machinery remained largely intact, including three sets of stones, and one arm of the sails also survived.

Elwick Windmill was listed in 1980 and was later photographed for the Images of England project in 2007. The tower now survives as a reduced but substantial windmill structure, preserving the shell and machinery remains of a former six-storey brick tower corn mill on the edge of Elwick.
