Site overview
Ruiton Windmill is a former tower corn mill on Vale Street at Upper Gornal. The surviving structure is probably late eighteenth century and was built of Gornal stone. It has two stages and stands on a raised circular single-storey structure.
The tower later passed out of milling use and has been used by Dudley Caving Club. It is protected as a Grade II listed building.

History
Ruiton Windmill was built at Upper Gornal, probably in the late eighteenth century, as a tower corn mill. The surviving structure is built of Gornal stone and has two stages standing on a raised circular single-storey base. It later ceased to operate as a mill, but the tower remained standing on Vale Street.
The former mill has also been associated with Dudley Caving Club as a headquarters. Ruiton Windmill was listed at Grade II in 1950 and remains a protected surviving mill tower in the Dudley area.
