Site overview
West Gomeldon Windmill is a former tower corn mill at West Gomeldon in the parish of Idmiston. The surviving structure is a derelict tower mill and is listed at Grade II. It was built in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century and served corn-milling use.
The remaining tower preserves the former windmill site, although the cap, sails and full machinery arrangement have not been established.

History
West Gomeldon Windmill was built in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century as a tower corn mill. It stands at West Gomeldon in Idmiston parish and was constructed as a wind-powered milling structure rather than as a later industrial conversion. The mill was associated with corn grinding, and the surviving tower marks the former working mill site.
The tower is now derelict. Its later working history, final cessation date and machinery inventory remain uncertain. The building was listed at Grade II on 29 May 1987, protecting the surviving former windmill structure. It remains one of the surviving tower-mill sites in Wiltshire.
