Windmill stump survives
The stump of the former tower mill survives on the Brownhill Infant School site.

Brownhill Windmill was a tower corn mill at Windmill Lane, Brownhill, Birstall. The mill was associated with the Oakwell Hall estate and was in corn-milling use by the nineteenth century. The surviving stump stands on land now occupied by Brownhill Infant School on Upper Batley Lane.
Its construction date, machinery details and final working date have not been established.

History
Brownhill Windmill stood at Windmill Lane, Brownhill, Birstall, and worked as a tower corn mill. The mill was associated with local landholding linked to the Oakwell Hall estate, and a corn miller was present there in the nineteenth century. The ownership changed during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
The mill no longer survives as a complete tower. A stump remains on land now occupied by Brownhill Infant School on Upper Batley Lane. Details of the original tower height, cap, sails, windshaft, millstones and final cessation of work remain uncertain. The site survives as a fragmentary former tower-mill structure at Birstall.
