South Mill is a former tower corn mill at Bishop Burton, near Beverley. It is identified as a surviving tower mill and has been converted to residential use. The converted windmill is incorporated into a period house set within the village landscape.

The construction date, working chronology, machinery arrangement and final closure date have not been established.

History

South Mill at Bishop Burton was a wind-powered tower corn mill. The mill stood on the edge of the village and formed part of the historic milling landscape of the East Riding of Yorkshire. It later ceased working and survived as a tower structure.

The former windmill has been converted to residential use and is incorporated into a dwelling. Its full development history, cap and sail arrangement, machinery inventory and final working date remain uncertain. The surviving converted tower preserves the former corn-milling site at Bishop Burton.
