Tower windmill built
Kippax Windmill was probably built in the eighteenth century.
Site overview
Kippax Windmill is a former tower windmill on Longdike Lane, about 30 metres west of Mill Farmhouse. The surviving structure is probably eighteenth century and was later altered. It is built of coursed magnesian limestone, with a circular four-stage tapering tower and an attached south wing.
The superstructure is missing and the former cap position has been rebuilt with modern brick.

History
Kippax Windmill was probably built in the eighteenth century as a tower windmill on Longdike Lane. The surviving tower is of coursed magnesian limestone blocks and tapers through four stages. It has opposed raised doorways in the east and west sides, an altered basement doorway and tiers of square windows.
The superstructure has been lost, and the former cap level was replaced by four courses of modern brick laid on a wooden frame. A south wing with a stone slate roof survives against the tower. The former mill was listed at Grade II in 1969.
