History
Thornton le Clay tower mill was a wind-powered corn mill. The mill was of tower-mill type, but its construction date has not been established. Later twentieth-century material identifies the surviving remains as a ruined stump of the tower, indicating that the cap, sails, and upper mill structure had gone by that stage.
The final working date is not known, and machinery details have not been established. The site remains associated with the former tower mill at Thornton le Clay, with the surviving structure reduced to a stump rather than a complete mill tower.
