History

Setchell's Mill was built at Upwood in 1852. The tower stands behind Wood View on the west side of Huntingdon Road and was constructed from local brown and red brick. It has four stages, with a window opening in a segmental arch to each stage.

The doorway carries an inscription naming T. Setchell and the date 1852, tying the surviving structure to its original construction. The mill worked as a wind-powered corn mill. Its cap was later removed, leaving the brick tower as the principal external survival.

Inside, three overdriven stones and some gearing remain, preserving part of the working arrangement of the mill. The tower stands within the grounds of a private residence and remains a visible historic structure in the village.
