Finedon Windmill stands on Station Road and is now known as Windmill Cottage. It is recorded as a tower corn mill and as a Grade II listed building. The surviving structure is a four-storey ironstone tower built to replace an earlier post mill.
Later photographic records show the converted building under the Windmill Cottage name, and listed-building information confirms the protected status of the former windmill. The available evidence establishes the site as a surviving former tower mill at Finedon, with present residential conversion rather than working mill use. Details of its construction date, internal machinery, final working date and full sequence of millers remain limited in the accessible records, but its location, type, material, function and survival are clear.

History
Finedon Windmill stands on Station Road, Finedon, and is recorded as a tower corn mill. It is also known in its later form as Windmill Cottage. The surviving former mill is a large four-storey ironstone tower set back from Station Road and was built to replace an earlier post mill.
It is listed Grade II and appears in modern photographic records from 2004, 2007 and 1999 under the Windmill Cottage name. The evidence identifies the building as a former wind-powered corn mill rather than a drainage or industrial pump. Its later history is represented chiefly by conversion and survival, not by complete working machinery.
The sources do not provide a secure full operating chronology, named millwright, detailed internal machinery or final date of milling. The tower nevertheless remains a substantial physical survival of Finedon's wind-powered milling landscape, protected through listing and incorporated into later domestic use.
