Site overview

Middle Mill was a post mill at Sweffling, standing around TM 350 640. It was in existence by 1783 and formed part of the group of windmills in and around the village. The mill survived until about 1900 and was demolished during the early twentieth century.

The later survival of any structural remains is unclear.

History

Middle Mill was one of the post mills at Sweffling. It stood at about TM 350 640 and was in existence by 1783. The mill formed part of the cluster of wind-powered corn mills in the parish, alongside Girling's Mill and High Mill.

Middle Mill remained standing until about 1900 and was demolished in the early twentieth century. No machinery inventory has been established, and the later condition of the mill site remains uncertain.
