Site overview
Saxmundham post mill was a wind-powered corn mill at Saxmundham. The surviving structure is the substantial three-storey roundhouse, which still contains the trestle. The mill body no longer stands, and the present visible character of the site is defined by the retained base structure rather than a complete post mill.

History
Saxmundham post mill stood at TM 383 631 and functioned as a corn mill. Its full construction date has not been established. The post-mill body has been lost, leaving the three-storey roundhouse as the principal surviving structure.
The roundhouse is substantial and retains the trestle, preserving the lower structural arrangement of the former post mill even though the buck, sails, cap, and working superstructure no longer survive. The later operational history and final working date remain uncertain.
