History

Occold smock mill was a wind-powered corn mill. The mill was moved from Eye to Occold and rebuilt as a tall octagonal smock mill. It had six floors above a two-storey brick base.

After its removal from Eye, the mill worked at Occold with four long sails. The mill was demolished in 1921. The surviving remains are reduced to the unroofed lower outline walls from the bottom floor of the former base, preserving only the footprint of the lower structure rather than the full smock mill.
