History
Downs Mill, also known as Hoad's Mill, stood on Bexhill Down as a post corn mill. It was a typical East Sussex post mill with its trestle enclosed by a roundhouse. The mill remained in the ownership of the Hoad family until 1965.
In that year the whole body collapsed, leaving the trestle and roundhouse. The trestle survived for several further decades, but had gone by around 2009. The visible remains now comprise the roundhouse wall and some millstone fragments.
