Site overview

Ringmer post mill was a wind-powered corn mill. The surviving element is the re-erected main post, held upright by concreted timber supports. The complete post mill no longer survives, and the site is defined by the preserved central structural remnant rather than by a roundhouse or working mill body.

History

Ringmer post mill stood as a wind-powered post corn mill. The mill body has been lost, but the main post survived and was re-erected. It is now held upright by concreted wooden supports.

The surviving structure preserves the principal vertical member of the former post mill but not the buck, sails, roundhouse, or working machinery. The construction date, final working date, and details of the mill machinery have not been established for this specific site.
