History
Harebeating Mill stood on Harebeating Lane at Hailsham and was previously known as Kenward's Mill. The mill was dismantled and re-erected on top of a two-storey roundhouse at Harebeating Lane, where it became known as Harebeating Mill. It worked as a post corn mill and had four shuttered sweeps with a span of more than seventy feet.
Milling had ceased by about 1915, and the sweeps were removed in 1918. The post-mill structure collapsed in 1934, leaving the lower part of the mill and the roundhouse. The surviving fabric was later combined with a modern upper storey and converted into a private house.
Harebeating Windmill was listed Grade II on 12 August 1981.
