History

Kipson Bank Mill stood at Hunston as a smock corn mill. It was built in 1801 and was associated with the Hudson family, who operated the mill until the early twentieth century. The working smock mill had gone by 1919, when the mill was demolished.

The base survived after the loss of the upper structure. By 1935 the ruined smock mill base remained, with a millstone leaning against the exterior wall. The surviving base was later converted to a house, preserving the lower part of the former mill structure within a domestic building.
