The smock mill worked as a wind-powered corn mill at Climping.

Clymping Mill at Climping was a smock corn mill. It replaced an earlier post mill in 1799 and worked as a wind-powered mill near Littlehampton. The mill was later converted to residential use, preserving the former smock mill structure as a house-converted windmill rather than as a working mill.

History
Clymping Mill at Climping replaced an earlier post mill in 1799. It worked as a wind-powered smock corn mill. The mill later ceased working and was adapted for domestic use.
The surviving structure is therefore a house-converted smock mill rather than a complete working corn mill. Its survival preserves the external identity of the former windmill while the site's later role is residential.
